Halloween 2007

Ray As Buzz Lightyear
Halloween was fun! The family went to the “Harvest Festival” at the Grove Community Church, and did a little trick or treating around the neighborhood. This year the kids dressed up as superheroes instead of princesses. Kelly was Supergirl, Rachel was Wonder Woman, and Ray dressed as Buzz Lightyear. Ray was supposed to be Superman (so they could be the Justice League) but they sent the wrong size. Oh well, he’ll be Superman next year.

An Email To Dish Network

Dish Network

I recently had a major problem with my VIP622 Dish Network HD-DVR, and scheduled for someone to come out and look at the problem. When the service person came out he stated that the unit could not be fixed, and needed to be replaced. At first I thought, no problem. Then after I thought about it I asked this earth shattering question, “Am I going to lose all of the shows I recorded on the unit, or is their a way you can copy them over?” When he told me, “No, everything you have recorded will be lost”. It was hard for me to hold back my tears, but I am a strong man, so I turned my tears into manageable anger. You see, my wife and I love television, and this new season is very special for us, because it has several new science fiction shows that we enjoy. The Bionic Woman, Chuck, Pushing Daisies, JourneyMan, and Reaper are all very good shows and they all lived in on the hard drive in glorious high definition. But as the unit was replaced our evening entertainment archive was stolen from us because Dish Network box malfunctioned. We had at least 25 hours of unwatched entertainment on it and now it’s all gone. So now you are asking yourself why did I send this longwinded letter to you? I want the good people of Dish Network to activate the external hard drive support for my VIP622 box, and waive the one time $39.99 fee. That’s right I want you to activate the external hard drive support for free. You have already forced me break the law, because I have to illegally download all the shows that were on the unit when it failed. I also figured that if this replacement unit fails as well, I will be able to keep the shows that were recorded to the external harddrive, and would not be reduced to tears … I mean manageable anger. So come on Dish Network, throw your favorite customer a bone.

Dear Mr. Williams,

Thank you for your email. We do apologize for the inconvenience. The activation fee for the external hard drive is a valid charge since it will be a time fee only.

We thank you for allowing us to be of assistance to you. If you have any further questions or concerns, please refer to dishnetwork.com or reply to this email.

We Had Family Pictures Taken

We finally had more professional family pictures taken. We have them all posted on Flickr. If you want some, order them from Flickr.

We just had Kelly and Raymond’s Birthday Party

Raymond’s 2nd birthday was on February 2, and Kelly’s 5th birthday isn’t until April 9, so we decided to split the difference and have a birthday party for the both of them in March. It was a great time had by all. We had the party at Air Kids in Corona. Just in case you are wondering what Air Kids is here is an official description from their web site:

We are an indoor, private, air conditioned, supervised, 10,000 sq. ft. facility chock full of the most incredible inflatable games and bouncers for kids. We not only help entertain the kids, but we help with the invitations, food, drinks, cake, goodie bags, and clean up afterwards too! Instead of running the show, you’ll be able to play with your child and mingle with the other parents in the parent’s lounge.

We aren’t trying to advertise for them or anything, but it was pretty fun. Alot of the parents played round with the kids too.

Rachel Was In The Newspaper

Rachel was recently in the Press Enterpise newspaper for participating in a GATE event called at Destination Imagination.

Rachel and Kelly are Jedi

At Disneyland Rachel and Kelly completed their Jedi Training and they both fought Darth Maul. Kelly was a little scared, but she still completed training.

CHRISTmas 2006

CHRISTmas was great! The kids loved CHRISTmas morning, Santa Claus was pretty good to them. This was also the first CHRISTmas
Raymond kinda understood what was going on. He opened a few presents, but as soon as he got the the Lightning McQueen car, he forgot about CHRISTmas morning and only wanted to play. The girls on the other hand are professionals, and they of couse helped their brother open his presents.

Rodney’s Still Recovering

Image of a broken knee cap Rodney was taken to an orthopedic doctor last week so they could look at his knee. After they x-rayed it the doctor stated right about that the patella (knee cap) was broken. About a quarter to a third of the kneecap is broken off and was smashed into mush. It will never fuse itself with the rest of the kneecap. However, his body will absorb some of the mush, and when it does they will look at it again to see if surgery is required to fix anything in the knee. Because of this injury, Rodney needs to wear a brace (that works similar to a cast) for 6 weeks. Since this is on his right leg, he cannot drive, walk, or mow the lawn until his knee is strong enough to do so. Rodney is still at home recovering, but is hoping to go back to work in a week or so. Thanks to everyone for keeping him and the family in your thoughts and prayers.

Rodney Was In A Car Accident

This is what the Nissan looks like now.Rodney was in a car accident at 7:05 pm on Tuesday, June 20, 2006. He’s doing “alright”. He’s at home, his spirit is good.
He was coming home from work and a speeding black Honda Accord with the license plate of 3FDF992 fishtailed into Rodney’s lane and smashed into our reliable 13 year old Nissan pickup head-on, and hammered the Nissan into the guardrail. After the fire department came and used the jaws of life to open the driver door. They put a neck brace on him and placed him on stretcher, and sent him off the Riverside Community in an ambulance, along with the illegal alien that crashed someone else’s car into Rodney.

Here is a list of Rodney’s current injuries:
- two sprained ankles
- swollen, bruised, and scraped right knee (was dislocated during accident)
- bruised and scratched chest from seatbelt and steering wheel
- sore and limited motion in neck and back, from whiplash
- bruises from who knows what on both arms
- cuts and scratches on both arms from glass

Rodney has and appointment next week with an orthopedic doctor to find out what how bad his knee is. Rodney thinks he will need surgery on it.

Of course Rodney and Elizabeth are upset over the stress of having the accident, the pain of recovery, the lost time, the nightmares the girls are having, the extra strain and work on Elizabeth, and the expense of buying a new car. But when you look at the damage … it’s a blessing that Rodney didn’t get hurt more than he did or even … die. So they are truly thankful for that. And we are sure that Rodney will be back on his feet in no time.

Our Last Visit to Disneyland

The girls and Cinderella at DisneylandWe have gone to Disneyland about 20 times this year using our season passes. On Father’s Day our passes expired, so we went on that day for the last time (until we get new passes). It was a great day. The girls took tons of pictures with princesses, Kelly got to see Asimo again, we all ate at Ariel’s Grotto, and rode our favorite rides. Farewell Disneyland. I’m sure this is not the end of our long and exhausting relationship.
